Cap- tain Clemens of the Case nine, leaves with his men tomorrow night, and the team will arrive in Ann Arbor Satur- day morning. Case found a place on the Michigan schedule in 1908, and since then eight games have been played between the two istitutions, 1909 being the only year in which they failed to meet on the diamond. Seven of the games have been won by the Wolverines, while the Technical school played Michigan to a tie in 1911. With the sting of sev- en defeats, and only one tie to their credit, the Cleveland boys are deter- mined to put up their best front in the coming conflict. The probable batting order against the Michigan nine is as follows: Beck- man, 3b; Heindenreich, 2b; Clemens, c (Captain); Catlin, If; Wood, rf; Holman, cf; Hathaway, ss; Kellogg, lb; Andrews or Smith; p. The Cleve- land boys will probably face Michigan in this order, although some changes may be made to accord with the style of pitcher that Coach Lundgren sends into the box. Beckman is a good man, and his ability to get on base has won him the first place in the batting order. Cap- tain Clemens, who holds down the backstop position is hitting things at a good clip, and he and Catlin will be expected to do most of the heavy hit- ting for Case. Hathaway has also been clouting the" ball and unless he suffers a slump, should reach first sev- eral times. The probable choice for pitcher is Andrews, who has worked himself in- to mid-season form at this early stage of the game. He has been pitching fine ball right along, and unless the coach changes his present plans, will be the man to face the Ann Arbor team. 1917 SOPH PROM DECORATIONS WILL BE IN BLACK AND WHITE Decorations for the Soph Prom at the Armory on May 7, will be black and white, according to an announce- ment made by class officials yesterday. A number of feature dances, in which souvenirs in the class colors, red and white, will be given away, have been planned for the affair. An effort is being made to have all the male members of the class wear white flannel trousers. About 25 tick- ets are still left for the Prom. These can be obtained at the Union or from members of the committee. '15 Lit Baseball Squad Needs Players Manager Ralph Rice of the senior baseball team issues a call for more candidates to report as only eight have reported thus far. At the practice ses- sion tomorrow a captain will be elect- ed and he wishes that all who have any intention of turning out would re- port for the election at south Ferry field. Dixie Club Nominating Body Appointed At a meeting of the Dixie club at the Union Wednesday night, a committee was appointed to make recommenda- tions of men for election to office at the next meeting. At the banquet held recently in Detroit, Mr. M. B. Garrett, of the history department, gave a talk. The last meeting of the year will be held at the Union, June 2. ALTER 1,N516 N/A FOR May Give Award Which Corresponds to "aMa" in Track; May Have "1" Man as Cheer Leader TO ADI) GOLF TO CLASS SPORTS Members of the Varsity football. squad who do not win their "M's" will be given insignia corresponding to the "aMa" in track in the place of an "R" if the recommendation of the board of directors of the athletic association is avorably received by the board in con- trol. At yesterday's meeting, the direc- tors sent such a recommendation to the upper board, and it is probable that they will act on it at their next meeting.. As a result of conferences between the committee appointed by the stu- dent council to consider the manner of appointing the cheer leader for next year, and a similar committee appoint- ed by a board of directors, a third committee was appointed yesterday A Iq ,M1 r w ~ ri from the board to consider the matter. This committe will consider the pos- sibility of appointing an "M" man to lead the cheering next year, and plan some sort of competition to chose as- sistant cheer leaders. From these assistants, the cheer leader will prob- ably be chosen the next year. Such a plan has been worked out satisfac- torily at eastern colleges. A petition from the soph lits for an extra set of numerals for their class basketball team was turned down by the board. In regard to the super- fluity of numeralson the campus, the committee recently appointed to plan a change in the manner of award, will probably report at the next meeting; It is probable that the number of class insignia to be given out after this year will-depend on the num- ber of men.engaged in the sport. In class basketball, for example, the four high teams may be given the numerals, while in hockey, the championship team only may be entitled to such rec- ognition. This move will be in accord with the general sentiment of the campus. The board of directors at yesterday's meeting also voted to make golf a reg- ular class sport.
