These matches make up the last round of the tourney before the freshmen entrain for the Maumee city where they meet the Scott High School racket wielders next Saturday afternoon. The freshman team will be picked from the eight men who won their matches in the round which was fin- ished yesterday. N. E. PINNEY LEAVES FOR RIPON TO DEBATE IN PEACE CONTEST Victory Tomorrow Night Entitles Him to Honor of Speaking in Lake Mohonk Finals When N. E., Pinney, '16, left at 5:30' o'clock this morning for Ripon college, Wisconsin, Michigan took the second step towards winning the National Peace contest honors which have been' captured twice before by the univer- sity. A victory for Pinney tomorrow night at Ripon will entitle him .to the honor of speaking as the representa- tive of the Central group of states at the finals to be held at Lake Mohonk, New York, May 20. The United States has been arbitrar- ily divided in to six groups of states: North Atlantic, South Atlantic, Central,' Western, Mountain and Pacific. Each of these groups will hold a contest similar to the Ripon college event to determine upon its representative in the finals, thus making six participantsj for the Mohonk battle. Pinney, victor in the State Peace contest of March 19, will act as speaker for Michigan in the Central group contest in which the states of Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio, Illinois and Indiana will take part. Prizes of $75 and $50 will be awarded to first and second places in this: contest. The oratory department is hopeful of victory in the coming fray, as Pinney's delivery and the character of his ora- tion won the State Peace honors easily.
