STR'ONGCOLLEGIAN R.W.JI1ohnson,'18, Lacks Less Than 240 Points of Beating Presnt Strength Record INCREASES OWN FORMER TOTAL Michigan can undoubtedly claim the second strongest college man in the world. R. W. Johnson, a freshman from Grand Rapids, broke his own record of 2567 points yesterday after- noon in the gym, totaling 2734 points. The record for all-around strength, is held by Roos, of Yale, with 2970 points. Thus the Michigan man came within 240 points of the world's record. ,Johnson hung up the very credita- ble mark of 2567 several weeks ago, and he showed an .improvement yes- terday in practically every event. The point in which Roos excels the Michigan "strong man," is in the dip- ping and chinning. These two events count heavily, and when Johnson ini- proves in this department, he will stand an excellent chance of smash- ing the present world's mark which is held by the Yale man. Johnson's rec- ords yesterday follow: Lung capacity 335; dips 16; chins 16; leg lift 1030; back lift 655; weight 177 1-2; grip, right hand, 250; left hand, 215. Offer Special Music at Club's Dance Leroy Scanlon, '16L, and "Ike" Fisher with his five piece banjorine orchestra will help entertain guests at the Boat club party to be held at the Union Wednesday night. Pasteboards for the affair are now on sale at the Union counter at one dollar each, to any member of the Union or Boat club. _.. _:,. 605 E.
