LIT UNDERGLS5ES ANNEX TWO GAMES Perry and Milroy Win 29 Points for '17; Champion Yearlings Beat Architects7 WIND UP BASKETBALL TONIGHT With the soph lit forwards playing the leading roles, the.1917 basketball team easily trimmed the fresh engin- eers, the final count being 44 to 25. In the only other game of the evening, the fresh lits, campus champions, beat the architects by a score of 36 to 25. There was at no time any doubt as to the final outcome of the first game, since the sophomores established an early lead and maintained it through- out the contest. Doty did the best work for the freshmen, making five field goalsand an equal number of fouls. Perry and Milroy earned 29 points of the lits' total between them. The champions did not have a -walk- away from the architects, the argument being rather strenuous throughout. Not until near the end of the second half did the yearlings gain much of a lead ontheir opponents. Tonight's games will finish the campus basket- ball season. The junior engineers will take on the fresh engineers at 7:00 o'clock and the senior laws will meet the fresh lits an hour later. POSTPONE ARRANGEMENTS FOR BATTLE CREEK SOCCER GAME Soccer enthusiasts have been forced to call off all plans for the April 9 date which was under way of arrange- ment with the Battle Creek College of Physical Culture, it being discovered that the nearness to vacation would prevent some of the stars from partici- pation on account of scholastic work. Some of the men are out now and are getting into shape for the fray which will be scheduled for some date fol- lowing the Easter holidays. The intramural club house will be opened after the holidays, and all the men will be expected to report at that time, while any persons who can, are urged to come out now, although they may not be able to secure locker ac- commodations at Ferry field. FORUM ATTENDANCE DROPS; SUBJECT, HONORARY SOCIETIES With an attendance of less than 10, the Forum meeting at the Union last night fell off from the general success of former session. Honorary societies were the topics for discussion, and Al- lan T. Ricketts, '15E, acted as presid- ing officer. One speaker objected to the use of the term "honorary" in connection with these organizations, and was told that the societies called themselves "campus" and not "honorary" organ- izations. The same critic thought that the societies had no right to use the word "class" in regard to their body, and advocated the election of members for them by a general vote of the en- tire class. CHARGING ROEHMERS DEFEAT FIGHTING BASTIANITES 28 to 27 Once more the charging Roehmers downed the fighting Bastianites in a gruelling game featured by the buck- ing and end running of Captian Roehm and the rolling of the giant Rehor, the final score standing 28 to 27. The losing team was greatly handicapped by the loss of their inspiration, Cap- tain Bastian, but the Roehm warriors were also hindered by the absence of flying Maulbetsch. Rehor playeda star game at center, M I G HI I Gx A N SAMIIi WELERS '3tBEER$s NARp SLES R E E li Y outjumping his opponent every time, and shooting several sensational bas- kets. Roehm did not forget the foot- ball he had learned and used it all to the best of his ability, upsetting men here and there, and using his end runs and off tackle plays wherever possible. These games will be played once a week to get the men in good trim be- fore spring practice. ( OVERNMENT OF ENGINEERING ASSEMBLIES GIVEN TO DEAN To officially recognize the mentor system for the control of class assem- blies in the college of engineering, the faculty of that college has just passed rules to place the government of the assemblies in the hands of the dean of the college. The assembly system was begun in the fall of 1911 for the freshman class of that year, and in 1913, upon request of the sophomore and junior classes, the assembly was extended to include them. In June 1914, the faculty rec- ognized the junior and sophomore as- semblies, but it made no rules for their government. A report, which has been prepared by Prof. C. T. Johnston, Prof. John R. Allen, and Mr. W. D. Moriarty, of the college, upon the rules which are to be used in the control of the as- semblies, has been sent to the dean. Cor. 12th and S. University . ...
