They could be a powerful force on the cam- T E R , pus. ?Frequently they are, and in a T legitimate way too. Criticism may be Fourth validly applied to those in which the men elected take their membership as DEAYan honor and not as opportunity. The number of such organizations, which D ERING cannot boast even of intelligent and sincere discussions at their meetings, L.OTHES disregarding positive action, is too large. The typical honorary society )w youbour meeting is a dull affair, with three- all-wool quarters of the hour given to routine cs 'for matters and a slim quarter-hour, per- haps, to a round-table chat, in which the proverbial amount of chaff is pres- ent in full measure. Honorary society men have their own salvation in their hands. The problem of making these organizations I Eefficient is not formidable. It involves co-operation; it requires thinking. Field Day for women this year, which will be held late in May, will be celebrated by an additional and novel feature in the form' of an outdoor "dancing fest" under the direction of Miss Alice Evans, director of Barbour gymnasium. The dancing will be in interpretation of one of the well- known Greek myths divided into sev- eral paits, and will be participated in by a large number of dancers. All university women are eligible to take part, and those who are interested will meet in Barbour gymnasium at 4:10 o'clock Monday, April 5, when the story of the myths will be told and group tryouts made. Athletic honors will be given, in ac- cordance with the schedule, for work done in this festival. .* * * University women at large will be given an opportunity to suggest candi- dates for the presidency of the univer- sity Y.
