The talk will be on the more technical features of the game, including plays in which the coach ex- pects to drill his men when they get outdoors. The promising weather conditions of the past few days make it look as though the first outdoor trip of the candidates for this year's team will take place some time in the near fu- ture. If the squad can get out on the field this week, it will have the advan- tage of three weeks of outdoor work before starting on its southern trip. Yesterday afternoon's workout con- sisted in a drill at batting in the cage for about an hour and a half, the two. hours being rounded out by infield practice. In the absence of Captain McQueen, his place at second on the first team to line up was taken by Smith. First base was held down by Maltby, with Krause at catch, Bran- dell at short and Waltz at third com- pleting the infield. e( TRACK SQUAD MAY LEAVE GYMNASlUM (Continued from page 1) aptitude at the distance. That Mich- igan will enter a four-mile team seems to be almost a foregone conclusion, and if the middle distance men show enough speed to warran't their en- trance in the Drake carnival, they will be taken along with the group of milers. Burby, Robinson, John, Fon- tana, Huntington and either Donnelly or Grauman should prove the principal contestants for this team. If Fox is shifted to the mile distance with Car- roll and Ufer, that will leave Donnelly and Grauman to compete for the fourth position. The man of this pair that is not selected for this team, would pro- bably try for the two-mile relay. Thus there will be enough contestants, and it would almost look as though Farrell could develop a pretty fleet aggrega- tion from this group of runners.
