Davis, of the educational department, and Mr. J. B. Edmondson, inspector of high schools, left yester- day afternoon for Chicago, where they will attend the convention of the. Northwestern association of schools and colleges. -With Prof. H. C. Sadler, of the ma- rine engineering department, as chair- man, a committee of the heads of the technical departments of the college of engineering has been appointed to in- vestigate the proposed engineer's em- ployment bureau. -Plans are being laid for the con- struction of a tennis court on the top of the knoll on Palmer field. With the dirt that is removed by slicing off the hill, two more courts may be laid in the hollow southwest of the univer- sity observatory. -More than 20 mechanical engineers and members of the faculty of the de- partment have signed up for the an- nual mechanical engineer's tour, which will take place during the Easter vaca- tion. -Work in the engineering shops is now concentrated on the making of 50 drawing tables and a large bend- ing plate, for the use of the pipe-fit- ters employed by the university. This is being done in the foundry by the students of the department. -Prof. A. S. Whitney, of the educa- tional department, who has been con- fined to his home for the past 10 days with the grippe, was able to be out yes- terday afternoon, and will meet his classes today. -Mr. Frank Olmstead, assitsant gen. eral secretary of the Y. M. C. A., is confined with an attack of tonstlitis. His condition is reported as slightly improved today. -"'Characteristics of the Four Gos- pels," is the general subject of an ad- dress to be given at 4:30 o'clock this afternoon in St. Andrew's church, by the Rev. Henry Tatlock. This will be the fourth of a series of lectures on this subject, and all men interested are invited to attend.
