Judging from the past showing of the Yale team, a collection of five men who can shoot an -average of 185 should be easily able to defeat the on- ly ppe'n t thlat sa ands hseriously be- 'ship. A team averaging 185 per man would shoot a total score of 925, which should be between 10 and 15 bett.er than the Yale five has scored in its last few encounters. A slip in the Idaho match, which is scheduled for Michigan for today, would probably result in the destruc- tion of the Wolverines' championship hopes. Such a slip is unlikely in view of the showing which the Michigan team has made up to the present, and should the Maize and Blue gunmen ac- quit themselves as is expected of them meet Yale with a clean slate. The averages of the men who have shot in official matches, as computed from the scores are as follows: qualit and merit of our rk tin both Portrait and Commercial De- partments. The entrants up to the present time include the University of Chicago, Uni- versity of Illinois and University of Michigan. Armour Institute, of Chi- cago, and Washingtonl University, of St. Louis, may also send teams. The number of men on each team will probably be four this year. In the past, only three men have been sent to represent each college, but this has been held to be too small a number to offset any advantage result- ing from an overwhelming superior- ity of one man, as is frequently the case in chess tourneys. The four-man team is calculated to minimize the im- portan ce of individual star playing, and to encourage team work. The Michigan team has not been selected yet, and will probably not be chosen until the end of; the club tour- nament, on April 3. Prof. A. E. White to Address Clhemists Prof. A. E White will address the University of Michigan branch of the Amer-ican Chemical society -on, "A Stuldy of the Influence of Heat Treat- ment on the Physical Properties of Copper and Brass," at 4:15 o'clock, Tuesday, March 23, in room 165 of the chemistry building. iH A L LER JEWE LRY CO.
