beginning Tuesday. Similar meetings
have proved stuccessful in. the engi-
neering college. There seems to exist
no reason wNihy they should not be of
especial benefit to first-year men and
women in the arts college, mnany of;
whom are u1ndecided as to the prob--
lems ofl campus life and as to their fu-
ture vocation, and all of whom can be
bettered by sound advice and guidance.
Care will, and certainly should, be
taken to prevent the assemblies from
evolving into routine affairs, devoid of
enitlhusiasm and ,interest.. Attend-
ance is not to be compulsory, so that
the number attending will furnish a
pretty good guage as to the attractive-
ness of the programs. Wholesome
criticism, however, suchi as undoubted-
ly will be necessary at times on the
part of those who speak, need not be
precluded; sincere censure, as distin-
guished from scolding, is not distaste-
ful to students. who think,. The destiny
of the new institution, meanwhile, lies
