der the auspices of the Polish' relief
committee in Hill auditorium, March
f9. The Polish relief fund has now as-
sumend a total of $461, and it is hoped
this will be increased materially by
the receipts from the lecture.
Prof. 'S. J. Zow ski, of the. engi-
neering college, chairman of the. cor-
W itted, has issued the following state-
ment:
t"The Polish relief committee wouldl
like the services, for One 'afternoon of
about 40 students to assist in selling
tickets and distributing circulars about.
the 'city for the war talk to be given
at Hfill auditorium on March 9, by J. F,
Archibald. Students who are willing
to give this service for the benefit of
the mr-any Poles, deprived by the war
of their homes, and rendered destitute
_and even facing starvation, are asked,

Questions of caps and gowns, clas,,
canes, a class memorial and class day
officers occupied most of the session
of the senior class of the College of
Engineering yesterday afternoon.
The contract for the purchase or
rental of senior caps and gowns was
let to a firm of North University tail-
ors, and announcement will be made
later of the date when measurements
will be taken for- the paraphernalia.
The class also voted to leave a
memorial in the shape of a loan fund
to the amount of .$400,,and first assess-
ments will be~ made upon the class thi s
morning, because the fund will be put
to immediate usve. The assessment
was fixed at $1.5Q.
The class cane committee was
granted full, power' in the final ,selec-
tion of the sticks and eighteen samples
are to be placed on view this morning
in the rooms of the Engineering so-
ciety, where the seniors will select the
three canes from which the cane com-
mittee is to make its choice.
Gordon B. McCabe A's unanimously
elected to present the class memorial,R
while John C. Abbott and Carl V.
Johnson were nominated for the offce
of class Historian, and Allan T. Rick-
etts, Herschel C. Smith and It. V.
Dibble were chosen as candidates for
class orator. An elect ioni for these
last name(] offices-will takle place ne"xi
week.
