Mlain S#. 7 11"''x\ LET Although there were but two solo- ists on the faculty concert program given yesterday afternoon in Hill au- ditorium,* Miss Johnson being unable to appear, it was one at which much appreciation was manifested. In his organ numbers, Mr. Moore introduced some real innovations in the "Three Oriental Sketches" by Ar- thur Bird. Weird and fantastic, they savored of another world. The atmos- pheric effects were made possible by a skillful selection of registers, only permitted by a large instrument. The dainty, sparkling rhythm of Parker's, "Allegretto," and the soft shimmerings of the "Cradle Song" were especially well received. Mr. Lockwood's playing of Mo- zart's "Concerto in ,A major," left "little to be desired. Although a composition written in the older style, Mr. Lock- wood succeeded in showing its eternal richness and beauty. The accompani- ment was effectively played by Miss Hamilton.
