Stanley Says Possibly No Other Singer Has Done So More Fully Than He UNIVERSITY Y. W. C. A. BRINGS FORMER CHORAL UNION ARTISTj Since Last Visit Sings in Metropolitan Opera Company and in Vaudeville "I have learned with great pleasure that David Bispham is to be heard again in Ann Arbor. Possibly no sing- er has gladdened audiences more fully than he, and his art is so finishedthat he sings as naturally as a bird. His interpretations are those of a serious minded man, who is a greater artist because he is a great man. I only hope that a large audience will greet him, for not to hear him is a distinct privation," said Prof. Albert A. Stan- ley, of the school of music, yesterday, of the concert to be given by Mr. Bis- pham on the evening of January 30 in the high school auditorium, under thel auspices of the university Y. W. C. A. Local interest in Mr. Bispham's ap- pearance will be heightened by the fact that several years ago he sang in a number of Choral Union concerts. Those who heard him then remark up- on his striking personality, as well as his beautiful baritone voice. Since his last visit to Ann Arbor, Mr. Bispham's career has been a checkered one, but remarkably sue- cessful. After singing with the Met- ropolitan Opera company of New York, and at the Royal Opera, Covent Garden, London, he has appeared in opera in practically every large city of the world. With his return frown a trip to Australia, he entered upon a several month's engagement on the vaudeville stage. Immediately after his vaudeville tour, he was honored with the degree of D)octor of Laws, by the college from which he gradu- ated."During the past 12 months, with 335 ,concerts to his credit, lie has sung before half a million persons: Tickets for the concert are on sale at the desk at the Union for 75 cents. In view of the restricted size of the auditorium and t h e drawing powers of the singer, the management is confident that the pasteboards will hold out for a few days only, so it has suggested that those of a musical bent will do well in securing their seats as soon as possi- ble.
