Effinger has received a card ,from Miss Martha Gurd, '08, who has been studying in Berlin, stat- ing that the German authorities have just permitted her to leave that city. No reason for her detention was given by -Miss Gurd. She expressed considerable relief, however, at being able to leave Germany's capital.
