William At a public mass meeting held at Columbia University on December 17, 1914, the students there 'assembled expressed themselves as intensely op- posed to the propaganda for militar-' ism. The following resolution was adopted: "Resolved, That we, the stu- dents of Columbia University, in mass meeting assembled, hereby go on rec- ord before Congress and the people of 'the United States, as opposed to mili- tarism in general and an increase in our army and navy in particular."
