There seems to be a good deal of grounds for the general complaint in regard to holding classes Monday and Tuesday of Christmas week. It is a source of considerable gratification pre- sumably to those in authority to be able to say that Michigan students come from every state. This fact might well be remembered in formu-1 lating the year's calendar, and the convenience of those who come from great distances might be taken more into consideration. The. dismissal of college on Friday, December 18th, would give the student four more days at home, with the loss of but two days of work. It is believed that even those students who live in nearby towns would prefer to have this additional amount of vacation, wheth- er or not at the expense of working later in the Spring. The problem probably faced the ad- ministration when the 1914-'15 sched- ule was arranged, and the necessity for providing an arbitrary number of work days must have occasioned the step. There is no particular blame to be placed anywhere. It is only a ques- tion whether a rearrangement, even at this late time, might result more sat- isfactorily all around. The degree of dinginess is the only thing that distinguishes the toques of matriculated students from those of Ann Arbor's small boys. Someone suggests that structural engineers be handicapped in the Union bridge tournament this year. With the campus whistle institution- alized, medics may begin to object to a nine-hour day.
