Shubert has been directed for the past three months toward the produc- tion of the new operatta, "The Peas- ant Girl," which comesto the Garrick theater, Detroit, next week, beginning Monday night, with Madame Emma Trentini as the star. This is the work of Rudolph Friml, composer of "Hig Jinks," and that other Trentini suc- cess, "The Firefly." Friml has al- ready proved his particular ability at taking advantage of the wonderful range in quality of Trentini's voice. It is said that he has quite outdone himself in this latest composition.
