J- KARL MALC OLM MALCOLM BLOCK 604 EASTI LIBERTY For Twelve Years The Sign of Satisfaction U Always the New Styles First 9 LIBERTY ST. Editor, The Michigan Daily:- In the past, Michigan has stood for democracy, and there is good reason to believe that Michigan desires to main- tain the same stand in the future. It has even been said by previous writers that the very atmosphere of Michigan breathes democracy. If this is so, why should not The Daily, which is, in a sense, the guardian of Michigan's at- mosphere, breathe democracy too? In this regard, it might be suggested to the writer of a certain clever re- mark in Wednesday's Daily, that if it is possible to separate cream from "skimmed" milk, he permit it to be done without any superfluous com- ment. HAROLD F. KORN, '17. Editor, The Michigan Daily:- Although the result of the Syracuse game was naturally a disappointment to the alumni of the east, for the Har- vard game we still have faith in a Michigan team, in Yost, and, last but not least, in the Michigan spirit. That next Saturday a Michigan team, inspired with the coaching of Yost, whatever its handicaps or mis- fortunes, will fight to the last ditch, we have no doubt. Let us then see to it that the Michigan spirit is truly manifested on that occasion. What- ever the result, let us show to the thousands present that first, last and always, we are for what the team on the field represents,-Michigan, its spirit and traditions. How small, in comparison to that, is the balance of points of a game! It is that spirit which will make and gain friends and admirers in the east. It is that spirit which will make Michigan a national school, in place of a sectional one alone. Formerly, the east couldn't "see" Michigan. Now the east is wil- ling to be shown. We have gained much, let us gain more. Yours for old Michigan, MERRILL S. JUNE, '12. Editor, The Michigan Daily:- I desire to make known the with- drawal of my candidacy for delegate to the oratorical board from the fresh literary class. J. DALE MACNAMAR. Work on Annual Floral Show Started Arrangements are being made for the annual floral exhibition, given un- der the auspices of the Botanical de- partment of the university on the main floor of Memorial hall. It will consist chiefly of a huge display of chrysanthe- mums which will be arranged in ar- tistic designs, but in addition to these, all the various flowers grown by the department will be placed on exhibi- tion. It is hoped by those in charge of the exhibit that it will be ready for visitors Saturday.
