During the past few days the water and the milk supplies of the city have been examined without any findings. The epidemic started a few days ago, but as there has not been any check in the number of cases, the city and, university officers have determined to find the cause. Registrar A. G. Hall is in receipt of a letter from that bank asking for a list of all South American students in college at present, and of those who have graduated within the past few years. The bank's plan is to get in touch with these men in view of employing them in its installation of branch banks on the southern continent. This, institution is one of the first to take advantage of recent legislation making the establishment of foreign branches possible. The following appeared in a recent number of "The Independent," in re- gard to the National City Bank's ac- tion: "Taking advantage of the pro- vision of the Owen currency act per- miting the establishment of foreign branches by American banking houses, the National City Bank of New York, the largest in the country, recently an- nounced that it would open branches in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and at Brazil. Later another branch is to be established at Valparaiso, Chill."
