SOCCER TEAM OPENS SEASON ' WITH YPSILANTI TOMORROW Final practice for the soccer team, which meets Ypsilanti in the inaugural' tussle of the season tomorrow at Ypsi- lanti, will be held this afternoon and Coach McCall will select 15 men to' make the short trip after a light ses- sion. The team will be the strongest yet to have represented Michigan in this sport, it is believed by the coach.- Last night in the office of Intramur- al Director Rowe, a blackboard drill was held and every candidate on the squad received some pointers which. will be put into execution this after- noon. Coach McCall went over some, of .the most common plays and laid1 particular stress on team work. The team which plays Ypsi tomorrow1 will also attend the cross-country banquet which will be held in the Oc- cidental hotel and Coach McCall will, be one of the speakers. INTEREST IN TRACK INCREASES Thirty Candidates For Team Appeared at Practice Yesterday Track prospects continue to grow brighter, as additional interest is being shown in the team each day. At yes- terday's practice more than 30 men worked out. Many of the men, not sat- isfied with the afternoon practices have taken advantage of the favorable weather conditions to limber up'in the mornings. Among yesterday's tryouts were Robinson, the sensational prep school star, who makes a practice of crowd- ing records, and Corbin, the star hurd- ler of last year's All-Fresh team. Captain Smith announces an inno- vation for track men in the form of meetings to be held every two weeks throughout the winter, to keep up the interest in track work. The first meet- ing will be held next Tuesday evening in Waterman gym. Prof. Gram Returns After Long Illness Prof. L. M. Gram, of the engineering department, who has been Ill in Grand Rapids since the latter part of July, following an operation for appendi- citis; has returned to his home in Ann Arbor. Scribner's Features Michigan Stadium Michigan's new stadium forms a part of an article in the November issue of the Scribner's magazine entitled "The Stadium and College Athletics" by Lawrence Perry. At the head of the story is an architect's drawing of the new stadium as it will look when it is ultimately finished. In the article, it is emphasized that the immense am- phitheatres stand as monuments to the importance of organized college athlet- ics. There is a two page photograph of the Harvard stadium in addition to cuts of the Yale Bowl, and the stadi- ums at Princeton, Syracuse, Cornell, Tacoma, Wash., and the College of New York City.
