CONVENTION OF WOMEN'S
CLUBS IS SUCCESSFUL.
Aire Than $2,630 Raised Toward Al-
ice Freeman Parker Schol-
arship for Women.
"The convention of the Confedera-
tion of Woman's Clubs at Saginaw
was more than a convention. It was
an inspiration," said M! Agnes Parks
last night. "The keynote was, of
course, woman suffrage, Jane Addams,
Booker T. Washington, and others
highly applauding the movement.
There were several splendid exhibi-
tions, among them one of Michigan
art, and several famous pictures, a
child labor, and an anti-tuberculosis
exhibition. The convention was well
attended."
Thursday afternoon, Miss Parks'
talked before the convention in re-
gard to the Alice Freeman Palmer
scholarship fund, a sum of $5,000,
'which is being raised by the confeder-
ation, for the use of college students.
Miss Parks told of the good the Lu-
cinda Stone scholarship was doing
among university women, and also of
her own work in raising money for the
residential halls. Report onthemnew
Palmer' scholarship fund was made
by Mrs. Josephine M. Gould of Owos-
so, who has charge of raising the mon-
'ey. Mrs. Gould reported that more
than $2,630 had already been raised.
