GREAT NORTHERN TO TEST
PROFESSOR'S NEW MOTOR.
An electric locomotive, using a poly-
phase motor designed by Prof. C. L.
de Muralt, of the engineering depart-
ment, is expected by many experts to
revolutionize electric transportation.
A 160-ton locomotive is now being
built in the shops of the General Elec-
tric Company, Schnectady, N. Y., for
use on the mountain division of the
Great Northern Railroad.
Professor de Muralt has had com-
plete charge of the construction of
the new locomotive, and will remain
in charge until after the experimental'
trip..
Websters Debate Tonight.
After the inauguration of officers at
Webster society tonight, the Varsity
question for debate "Resolved, that
the Aldrich plan of Banking System
should be adopted by the United Stat-
es" will be debated. Spike, Lewis and
Hart will uphold the affirmative of the
question, and Wall, Wilson and Peter-
son will maintain the negative.
Why is photographer Hoppe so quiet
-because he has so much to do that
he has no time to write up long ads.

CHICAGO UNIVERSITY HAS
INTERFRATERNITY TROUBLE
Interfraternity trouble has broken
out at the University of Chicago. Alpha
Delta Phi, after being convicted of
tampering with the pledged men of
several other men of the fraternity
council, was forbidden to pledge any
freshmen for the next three quarters
of the college term. This edict was
backed up by the university faculty,
who declared the offense to be a seri-
ous one. The Alpha Delt representa-
tive said that his chapter would prob-
ably withdraw from the council.
