Business Maager WEDNESDAY, MAY 7, 1913. Night Editor-Leo N. Burnett. MAY WE SUGGEST. Alfred Brummeler's tragic death yesterday from ptomaine poisoning casts a decided reflection upon Ann Arbor, for with all its progressiveness, the community has neer seen fit to appoint a meat inspector of its own. We are not preposessing enough to day that the services of such an officer will mean absolute safe-guarding, but it will go a long way toward such a result. This is not the first time that we have been aware of the sale of in- fected meats in the city. Yet Ann Ar- bor does not differ from any other place in this respect. The farcical meat inspection system in operation in the big packing centers is too well known to need comment.. It would be well for this country to emulate the methods used by Germa- ny inl the handling of the meat prob- 1cm. .It would be well for Ann Arbor to provide an efficient inspector. We would suggest that the new Civic as- sociation include this in its propagan da. In the meantime, don't scoff at vegetarians. They're playing the game safe, which is more than the rest of us can say. MUSIC AND DRAMA Advanced Pupils' Recital. Hutchins and Secretary Shirley W. Smith in regard to the university budg- et for next year. To Investigate Canvassing Proposi- tions. Some get-rich quick canvassing propositions with phenomenal and gar- bled records are leading university men to investigate more carefully. Several strong men of experience and judgment have recently examined a new proposition to find its merits. Here is what they found: A new, up-to-date, practical necessity. Square deal to cutomer. Sells well because it saves money,, and covers a field not yet crowded. No impossible records, but highest percentage of success we know of. Real net earnings not beaten. Can be handled by men of ordinary ability. ]Expert training, strong house, square dealing, exclusive territory, experi- enced leadership in the field. These men are going out. If open to a solid proposition investigate this one. Phone 937 (ask for General Agent) for infor- mation or interview. Call and see us. Think it over. If interested come back.
