Hutchins will represent the University of Michgan at the fourth American Peace Congress which will be held in St Louis May 1, 2, and 3. Ile will be one of the leaders of a discussion group on. the universities and the peace movement, which will follow a paper by Pres. Thwing, of Western Rservec universi- ty. Others who will appear in the discussion are Pres. Frank MVey, of the University f South Dakota, Pres. S. C. Mitchell, of the University o South Carolina, Chancellor C. J. H. K'rkland, of Vanderbilt University, and Prof. S. F. Weston, of Antioch College. ' Covcernor Ferris appointed Prs. Emecritus James B. Angell to represent the state of Michigan at the confer- ence, but >;r. Angell will be unable to attend. _All of the large peace soieties in the country will send deleates and many men of note will also attend. Andrew Carnegie, Secretary of State W. J. Bryan, and John Barret, di- rector general of the Pan American Union will gibe addresses. Presidents of many of the large universities and colleges in the country will also attendl the congress. The $500,000 memorial of Jefferson 'erected by the Louisiana Purchase e- position will be dedicated durng the convention. Beal, and Professors J. A. C. Irlldri of the German department, and Charles P. Wagner of the Spanish department will be the principal speakers at the "International" ban- quet to be ivcn by the Corda-Frtra Cosmopolitan club. The affair will be held in Newberry hall on T:ursday. May 1, at 6:30 o'cock. The banquet will be featured by dishes characterltic of different na- tionalities. Members of the club will supervise the cooking- themselves. Th~ club expects to make this the biggest anent of its kind in the year, and an elaborate menu will be prepared. A musical program is bein:, arranged. Prosecutor George J. Burke of this city will officiate as toastmaster. Mem- bers of the board of advisors to for- eign students have been invited, and some will probably give brief talks. Tickets sell at 76 cents per plate, and may be procured from D'evlln, Ioulk, Sheerer, Want, Tonchi,,and Bonilla. Murphy, c~ Detroit, who will deliver the principal address. His subject will be. "The Educated Man and the Public." W. C. Tr.~ble, '13, will talk on experiences of the glee and mandolin clubs on their trip to the coast. Waldo Fellows, '14, is on the program fcr "stunts" a la Opera and otherwise. The Midnight Sons' quar- tette, consisting of Trible, Spring, Scott and Fellow:s, is sure to have Nome good numbers. They made a big hit on the recent glee club trip. A limrited number of 200 tickets was placed on sale for the dinner and as near as could be learned they had nearly all bean sold last night. Mem- bers who are planning. to atttend and have not secured their tickets are urg- ed to do so at once.
