The senate council denied the pe- titions of the senior lits and engineers, and senior laws to stage their class banquets out of town. The council a month ago passed a resolution that all class affairs should be held in Ann Ar- bor. DATE IS SET FOR FIELD POEM. Entries For Poetry Prize of $100 to Close April 21. All poems to be entered in compe- tition for the Field poetry prize of $100 must be in the hands of Prof F. N. Scott, of the rhetoric department, by April 21. The date set is final, and all entries must be received by that time. Six poems have already been entered that differ greatly in subject matter, style, and length. In makng the offer, Mr. Field placed absolutely no restric- tions on the contest other than that the poems must be the work of an un- dergraduate. The judges will be Professors F. N. Scott, T. E. Rankin, and J. R. Brumm, all of the rhetoric faculty. Their de- cision will be announced the first part of May, and the, prize-winning poem will be published in The Painted Win- dow. FENCING TEAM WILL MEET DETROIT FOILERS TONIGHT. Sarendra Bal, '12P, who has just re- ceived his degree of master of science, has left for Calcutta, India, by way of Europe, where he will lecture in the leading cities. Bal will assume the position of in- structor in pharmacy as soon as he reaches Calcutta at the National Coun- cil ofhEducation,upon whose scholar- ship he was sent to this country. One hundred and ten lantern slides were given to Bal by President Harry B. Hutchins to supplement the lectures which he is going to give with the view of inducing H1indu students who are now contemplating study in the United States to come to Michigan. The slides depict the various stu dent activities of the universitey, cam- pus views, and the interiors of the museum, libraries, and laboratories. A similar set was given to Premanenda Das a month ago when he left for India tomconduct a similar campaign to boost Michigan in that country. HOLD BIG CARNIVAL TONIGHT. "Bill" Williams, '14E, and Bruce Mil- es, '14, will appear in a musical vaude- ville stunt. A blond chorus is the hit of the com- ic opera "Johnny Jones." Durwood Grimstead, '15, Julienne in "Contrarie Mary,," is grooming the male imper- sonator of the widow for "Pa's New Housekeeper." POSTPONE GIRLS' CONCERT ON ACCOUNT OF "EVERYMAN" Because of the date conflicts with the production of "Everyman," the annual concert of the Girls' Glee club has been postponed until Saturday, April 26. The concert was to have been held to- morrow evening but when the women found that it would conflict with the play in University Hall, they decided to change it to a week later. Further announcements will be made later. Fresh Lits Give Last Dance Tonight. Fresh lits will give their last dance of the year at the Union tonight. A four piece orchestra will furnish the music, and several- features including spotlight and confetti dances have been planned.
