"The Trail of the Lonesome Pine," which is announced to appear at the Whitney theater, Tuesday, April 22, is a play that presents Eugene Wal- ter's ability as a dramatist in a new light. There was need indeed of an artist of deep imagination and virile style to catch and reproduce the spirit that Mr. Fox injected into his book, and Mr. Walter has visualized what millions have dreamed of. At the Majestic. "The Cow and the Moon" will open this afternoon at the Majestic. The scenes are many in number and include a trip from Not Muchville, Ind., across the continent in a Pull- man sleeping car, showing the interior of the car as well as the approaching locomotive, which is considered a startler in stage effects. There are scenes in the Orient, the palace of the sacred cow and a flight to the land of the moon. y.. Every One Guaranteed. When under and upperclassmen meet together tonight in a smoker at the Union, those dreams of "an advis- ory system which advises," entertain- ed byaour predecessors of a genera- tion ago, will come near to realiza- tion. It is a step of rare significance in the progress of the university on- ward. It is inspiring to trace the growth of this movement up from the days when its sponsors were confined to a small group of faculty men, keenly appreciative of the need of some such system and willing to devote their time and energy to the promulgation of the idea. Once started, its value was so apparent that official recognition and aid came to it from the university. Now we have it on its proper basis,- student advisors for student advisers. Will we make good in our handling of this agency for good? Every indi- cation is affirmative. The system is here to stay; here to make a better Michigan by reason of better students; here to point out to the new-comers. the pitfalls on the road to commence- ment and citizenship. Those of us who may choose to dodge the mutual duties involved in the perpetuating of this movement will most certainly break faith with an opportunity for service of the sort which knocks on the door but once and is gone. The state sanitarium at Howell treats only incipient cases and provision for the proper treatment of advanced cases is said to be badly needed.
