At a recent meeting of the board of regents, a committee was appointed to prepare and publish an elaborate account of the seventy-fifth anniversary of the university which was held last June. The work will be in charge of Prof. F. N. Scott, who wii be editor and general manager, and Profs. T. E. Rankin and L. H-. Strauss. The plan is to embrace in tie work everything of interest concerning the anniversary, and to this end an ap- propriation was made by the regents, which will cover all expenses. The principal features of the book, which will probably be published this year, ae to be a historical sketch of the university by Prof. I. N. Demmon, the various speeches made at the an- niversary, and a .complete list of del- egates attending._ When finished the work will comprise about three or four hundred pages. RESEARCH PARTY OBlTANS MANY VAUALE SPECI3ENS The. Walker-Newcomb expedition, which the university sent to Nevada at thre beginning of the summer, ob- tained a large number of "specimens for illustrative and research purposes The opportunity to make a detailed bi- ological survey of the territory was also taken advantage of. The university now possesses detail- ed data which will make possible an extensive scientific report upon the fauna of the region. This work was made possible by the gifts from Dr. Bryant Walker and Dr. N. W. New- comb, of Detroit, and by an appropri- ation from the university.
