OPPORTUNITY KNOCKS Sympathy with the flood victims has called two meetings today, one of the :Michigan Union and one of the Wom- en's League. The men are to meet to call for volunteers to give up their spring vacation to go to the flood dis- trict and, make themselves useful in helping repair the damage. The wom- en will decide whether or not they shall give up their annual banquet to alleviate the suffering of the starving and homeless. Both of these move- ments meet with the heartiest sympa- thy of The Michigan Daily. If the women will show that they care more about giving others needed food than for a banquet for themselves, if they will sacrifice pleasure to serve the victims of a great disaster, we'll be proud 'of them. The men have an equal chance to show whether they, are bricks" or 'just unburnt clay.' To volunteer to go down into a country that is apt to be pesti- lence ridden will require moral cour- age of no mean order. And men with that order of courage and with ability to do things are the kind that will be needed. PROF'. KARPINSKI IS JOINT -81ItFI0OR OF KOO0K ON NUMERALS Prof. L. C.
