Okkelberg, of the zoology department, show that more articles are printed on zoological subjects than on any other science. His computations show that' approximately 300,000 pages, more than 1,900 periodicals and re- ports, and 11,000 exgraved plates are employed every year in presenting this matter to the public. Of the 1,900 pe- riodicals and reports relating to zoo- logical subjects, the university library contains more than 400. Branford, M.A., of the University of Edinburgh, secretary of the Sociological of Great Britain, will visit Ann Arbor today as the guest of Prof. R. M. Wenley. Tonight at 8:00 o'clock he will present his views on ethical and sociological problems in a public lecture in room 205, N. W. The lec- ture will be held under the auspices of Acolytes. Mr. Branford's contributions are found chiefly in the papers of the So- ciological society of 'Great Britain and in two volumes of essays, entitled, "Ideals of Science and the Faith," and "Utopian Papers." Prof. Bird to Talk to Cerele Francais. M. James Bird, professor of French in the engineering department, will give an illustrated lecture on "La Bretagne" at 5:00 o'clock this after- noon in Tappan hall, under the aus- pices of the Cercle Francais. The lecture will be given in English, and will be open to all members of the Ann Arbor Art association free of charge. Admission otherwise will be by the regular Cercle Francais asso- ciate tickets. PRESIDENT NAMES JUDGES TO AWARD MENORAH PRIZE. Professors R. M. Wenley, I. L. Scharfman and Rabbi L. M. Franklin, of Detroit, have been appointed by Pres. H. B. Hutchins to act as judges of the essays to be submitted for the Menorah society prize, The sum of $100 will be awarded for the best es- say on Jewish history, culture or prob- lems. Competition is open to all stu- dents of the university. The essays must be in the hands of Registrar A. G. Hall by June 14. Additional infor- mation can be obtained from Pres. Hutchins. Similar prizes exist at Harvard, Wis- consin and Minnesota. The establish- ment of these prizes is spreading to all the larger universities of the coun- try. The prize at Michigan was made possible through the courtesy of Mr. Julius Rosenwald, of Chicago. COMMERCE CLUB TO DECIDE ON SPRING TRIP TONIGHT. Arrangements for the spring trip will be made at the Commerce club smoker to be held at the Union tonight at 7:30 o'clock. The details of the an- nual tour of inspection including the date and itinerary will be decided on. The jaunt will probably be 'either to Chicago or Cleveland, and during the two or three days it lasts, the time will be spent in visiting factories and shops. Judge Jeffries of the municipal court of Detroit will be the principal speak- er at the smoker this evening. His subject will be, "The Relation of Transportation to Commerce." TICKETS FOR ALTITUDE ALL LIT HOP GO ON SALE TODAY. Tickets for the altitude hop, the all- lit party to be given next Saturday af- ternoon in Barbour gym, will go on sale at a booth in University hall to- day from 8:00 to 12:00 o'clock in the morning and from 1:00 to 5:00 o'clock in the afternoon. Senior lits will hold their last class dinner of the year tomorrow at 5:30 o'clock at the Union. Canfield, of Detroit, gave the first of his series of ten lec- tures on admiralty law before the law students yesterday. The lectures will continue this week and next but will be held at 4:00 o'clock in room G in- stead of at 3:00 o'clock as previously announced. Prof. Hollister Speaks at Manchester. Prof. Richard D. Hollister, of the oratorical department, gave a lecture recital on Macbeth last night in Man- chester under the auspices of the uni- versity extension lecture association.
