Mr. Alexander is well known in the advertising field, and will tell of some interesting experiences which he had while connected with the Detroit Journal. FINAL WORK ON FIRE SYSTEM I5 NOW BEING FINISHEl)UI. Final work is being done on the cam- pus fire protection system by the in- stallation of hydrants. This will be followed in about two months by elec- trical work, including the installation of a switch board and transformers. All traces of campus disfigurement caused by the installation of the sys- tem will have disappeared by fall when the planned sodding and grading has been completed. PROF. TOMBO OF COLUMBIA WILL LECTURE HERE SOON. Prof. Rudolph Tombo, Jr., of the German department of Columbia uni- versity, will deliver two illustrated lectures in the High School audito- rium on °Wednesday and Thursday, March 19 and 20, at 8:00 p. m. The first lecture will deal with higher Edu- cation in the United States and Ger- many." The second lecture will be on Wagner's "Parsifal." The ticket to the "Parsifal" lecture will admit bearer to the lecture on "Higher Education." Prof. Tombo, Sr. father of Prof. Ru- dolph Tombo, is also connected with the German department of Columbia university. WOMEN'S LEAGUE PLANS FOR MAMMOTH OUTDOOR PAGEANT An outdoor pageant depicting the life of Joan d' Arc will be given the lat- ter part of May under the auspices of the Women's League. Between two and three hundred women will take part, directed by Prof H. A. Kenyon. The presentation will be similar to the tableaux presented annually at Mt. Holyoke and Vassar. Tryouts for the principal parts will be held in a few days. REMAINDER OF OLD MEDICAL BUILDING TO BE DEMOLISHED Remaining portions of the old med- ic building will be razed this spring. The complete demolition of the struc- ture was decreed last fall but the wrecking was postponed. No plans have been made for the erection of another building on the spot., Prof. Hobbs Entertained by Scientists Prof. William Hobbs, who is abroad on a furlough from the university, and who is spending the winter on the island of Malta, in the Mediterranean Sea, was tendered a luncheon in his honor by a group of noted scientists recently.
