DEAN COOLEY TELLS OF DEM*ND
Over 20 letters asking for men to
fill engineering positions have been re-
ceived by the heads of the various
branches of engineering since college
started, last fal.
When interviewed, yesterday,regard-
ing the interest that is being shown in
the technically trained man,Dean Mor-
imer E. Cooley said: "The applica-
tions for men in all branches of en-
gineerih would in the aggregate take
care of a class larger than last June's
which had between 175 and 200 men in
it. I do not think the demand has
ever been so keen."
Speaking in refutation of the argu-
ment that the engineering field was
overcrowded already, Dean Cooley
said: "The question has been frequent-
ly asked, 'Will not the demand for men
cease in time, owing to the great num-
ber of graduates turned out annually
by the various colleges?' The answer
is, that the demand has been constant-
ly increasing during the past 15 to 20
years."
READI1NG CIWCLES MAY BE
ORGANIZED FOR STTUlENTS,
Reading circles have recently been
organized among townspeople and fac-
ulty members by the local branch of
the Drama League of America, to en-
courage not only attendance at the
better class of plays but also the read-
ing of modern dramas. No groups have
yet been formed among the student
body, but if suficient interest is shown
such circles will be organized. Stu-
dents who would care to take up this
subject are asked to see Prof. M. P.
Tilley.
Bridge Tournament to be Held Tonight
The second round in the Union
bridge tournament will be layed to-
night. The tournament is limited
strictly to auction bridge. Inasmuch
as very few have signed up for a
straight bridge tournament, it does not
seem likely that one will be held.
