The resolution introduced by Repre- sentative Verdier, of Grand Rapids, providing an amendment to the con- stitution so that Michigan students will be able to vote in general elec- tions, was reported out of the election committee of the Senate yesterday. General discussion of the resolution will probably take place the last of the week and it will be voted on in the senate the last of next week. Sentiment among the members of the house is in favor of the resolution and politicians say it will pass both bodies by a large majority. If it is passed it will be submitted to the peo- pIe at the fall election of 1914. Commerce Men Defer Decision on Trip At a meeting of the Commerce club held Tuesday night in the economics building, the question of a trip to Cleveland or Chicago to inspect large industrial plants was deferred till the night of Tuesday, March 18, when a smoiler will be held at the Union. The play, which has an original and unusual plot, was produced a sh rt time ago at the Lyceum theater, Ne York City, with well known actors in the leading roles. It is a romantic melodrama in four acts. Dickey has been on the stage since leaving college and has written several short plays which have had successful runs on the vau- deville stage. PROF. TILDEN TO ATTEND MEETING AT JOHNS HOPKINS Prof. C. J. Tilden of the mechanical engineering department, will leave to- morrow' afternoon for Baltimore to attend a conference of the'faculty of Johns Hopkins university. Plans for the establishment of the new Institute of Technology, which is to be intro- luced at the university and of which Prof. Tildn is to be the head, will be discussed. He expects to return Mon- day. That the Mexican trouble will not last -much longer, is the opinion of Prof. R. M. Wenley, of the philosophy department. He referred to the mat- ter before one of his classes Wednes- day as follows: "Mexico is now getting rotten ripe and, if I mistake not, will soon fall into the mouth of the United States." Lectures Will be Given by Socialists; The socialist club held a meeting last night and discussed plans for a series of lectures to be given under the auspices of the national associa- tion. The series will consist of lectures at Newberry hall. The first one will be given March 14. Senior Laws Ballot for Valedietorian. Valedictorian for the senior law class will be balloted on for the sec- ond time tomorrow morning in room C from 9:00 to.10:00 o'clock and in room B from 10:00 to 11:00 o'clock. The candidates are Charles Avery and Sidney Doyle. Engineers Hear Lecture on Lamps. "The Manufacture of Incandescent Lamps," was the subject of a lecture given yesterday morning before the engineers by Mr. Ralph E.
