With the annual Fresh-Soph meet slated for tonight in Waterman gym, with no admission charged, and en- trance granted only to the underclass- es, the athletic authorities have beery forced to throw open the doors to the general student body. What's tloe rea- son? Has the old rivalry and spirit between the two underclasses become a thing of the past? Must we admit that the men who are entering Michi- gan today lack the loyalty of those who have gone before? In furtherance of the wishes of the student council the plan of free ad- mission was adopted. At its sugges- tion only underclassmen were to be' admitted to this meet. 'It is evident that the student council has overesti- mated the under classes. It has con- ceded to them the traditional spirit and traditional rivalry that now seems for no logical reason to be entirely lacking. Trainer Farrell and Capt. Haff are agreed that the turnout of the candi- dates from these two classes is ex- ceptional. Critics agree that the ma- terial is likely and the spirit that the track men of the two classes show irn working for the event contrasts strangely with the actions of their classmates. At the final analysis ti would be expected that the two under- classes would at least show their ap- preciation of the efforts of the track men. If 'the spirit of these two class- es were to guide the university at large, it would be a strange Michigan indeed. There is still opportunity for the underclassmen to get tickets and save themselves the shame of having up-- perclassmen take their places to cheer the two teams on. There still exists the opportunity to prove' to the now doubting campus whether these two classes are lacking in the spirit that NNOUNCEMENT GO TO' Burchfield ,& 0o. s best Tailoring Service to be had Anywhere. ng Dress Clothes we aknowledge no equal, ve our superiority in every instance.
