Lrndenschmitt, Apfel & Company When Senator Weadock, '05L, of Saginaw, was in the city last week with the legislative committee investi- gating the needs of the university, he found that his financial slate here was not altogether clear, in spite of the fact that he had been wandering around the country with an easy con- science for eight years since leaving college. That traditional "book" at "Tut's Place," which has tided over many a financial crisis and hungry sensation for the students of the past, was the source of the surprise and Mr. Weadock 1d) not deny that the $16 debt and $3 interest which he found charged to him there aroused vivid and convicting; memories within him. The senator shared his little experi- enee with one of the law classes to whom he spoke that morning and seemed to see a lot of humor in the incident, although the joke was quite at his "expense." He admits that he merely "happened" to drop in and take a look at the old book, as anyone might drop in on an old acquaintance. Painters and decorators are now swarming over the new Hill Audito- rium in an effort to have the big build-Z ing completed in time for the May Festival. All heavy construction work is now finished and nearly all the frameworks have been removed, with the exception of the giant scaffoldings extending from the ground floor to the high vaulted roof. While the tim- bers remain in place the seats can not be put in on the main floor, but this is an operation requiring little time as all the anchorages have been sunk. The big pieces of Carthage marble in the lobby and foyer are all laid, and the main stairways are completed with the exception of one or two slabs, which will be put in place today. The tiled floor of the lobby and foyer are only awaiting the finishing touches of the heavy stone scrapers. As soon as the decorators and floor finishers have completed their work the heavy oak doors will be hung, and the electroliers put in position. The wiring is all installed, but as yet the lights are only temporarily placed in order to aid the workmen. The heat- ing plant has been in operation for more than a month, and the building is now thoroughly dried out. Accord- ing to present appearances the build- ing will easily be .completed in plenty of time for the big musical festival. THEA)TRICAL CIRCLES, Richard Carle Coming. Richard Carle and Hattie Williams with a host of pretty girls will come] to the Whitney theater soon in Charles Frohman's production of the farce- with music "The Girl from Montmar- tre." As an added feature of the at- traction Mr. Frohman has interpolatedi J. M. Barrie's laughable satire on the problem play entitled "A Slice oft Life," which is played by Carle, Missi Williams and William Danforth. UNIVERSITY NOTICES.
