General Committee Will be Enlarged and Sub-Committees Named The teachers' committee met yester- day afternoon and discussed plans for a more permanent organization and talked over suggestions which had been offered to make the meeting of the state teachers' association next October a success. The general committee will be en- larged, and a number of sub-commit- tees will be appointed to take care of the large amount of routine work. The chairmen of these sub-committees will act as an executive board of the gen- eral committee and the, whole organi- zation wlil be presided over by a gen- eral chairman. The committees and the various chairmen will probably be named next week, and active work will be started immediately afterward. Dean Spoke in West First of Month. Dean Henry M. Bates addressed the Kansas City Bar association on "The Recall of Judges and Judicial Opin- ions" on the evening of February 1, at the largest gathering in the history of the organization. At the same" time he was their guest for luncheon and was tendered a dinner by the Michi- gan alumni of Kansas City. Special Course Offered to Engineers. Course 38E, a special course in ac- counting for engineers, will meet Fri- day at 1:00 o'clock in the accounting laboratory, room 201, of the economics building. New Course in Philosophy is Offered. Philosophy of Valuation is a new course to be conducted by Prof. C. B. Vibbert. It will meet from 3:00 to 5:00 o'clock on Wednesdays in the Morris seminary room. COLLEGIATE CHESS PLAYERS PLAN GENERAL ORGANIZATION Plans for the extension of the work of the Western Intercollegiate Chess association have been adopted and a constitution and by-laws drawn up. The new organization aims to unite all the chess players attending universi- ties in the middle west into one group. This will be effected by correspond- ence matches between the different schools, and by the 'over-the-board' games during the Christmas and East- er holidays. Class Will Meet in Economics Room. The economics lecture room has been designated the regular meeting place of botany 36, a new course offered to. students in- terested in the analysis of com- mon cereal foods. Dr. H. A. Glea- son will meet his class for the first time at 7:00 o'clock this evening. Social Club Dance is Postponed.
