The general committee ap- pointed by Pres. H. B. Hutchins some time ago has been increased in size and will hold a meeting tomorrow af- ternoon for the purpose of electing chairmen to the eight sub-committees, work of the entertainment. The chair- men of the various committees will also act as an excutive board of the general committee. Beginning Monday a tea room will be opened at Newberry ball to accom- modate the women who reside in the outskirts of the city or in neighbor- ing towns and so are prevented from going home at noon. X light lunch will be served from 12:00 o'clock until 1:00 o'clock at noon and from 3:00 o'clock until 5:00 o'clock in the after- noon. The athletic committee of the Women's League has1 the affair in charge.< SKATERS COMPETE IN FIRST CONTEST Engineers and Lits Play First Inter- class Game Tomorrow Evening IS FIRST GAME ON NEW RINKS. The new hockey rinks at Ferry field will be the scene of the first battle of the season tomorrow evening when the engineers and lit aggregations will skate for the supremacy of their de- partments. This will be the maiden game of the new rinks and each team is confident of brniging to their department the initial victory of the season, together with the first decision that will be de- cided upon the new boxes. Although the teams have had little opportunity to practice upon the icy squares, nevertheless the men took ad- vantage of the exam recess and have taken the rust from their skates and the kinks from their muscles, so hock- ey enthusiasts will be sure to see a real exhibition of the winter pastime. The rinks will be kept busy from this time on. The schedule was an- nounced in part last night by manager DuBois and contains the following games: Wednesday, February 12 (night)Lits vs. Engineers; Thursday, February 13, Lit 1.
