LARGER STAGE BEING BUILT IN NEW UNION DANCE HALL Carpenters are at work building an addition to the stage in-the dance hall of the Michigan Union. "Mimes," the Union opera club, advocated the eniargement of the stage in order to make it suitable for presenting sketch- es and original "stunts" during the. winter. On evenings of dances, that portion of the stage which is now being constructed will be removed. Card Catalogue is to be Protected A set of fireproof card catalogue boxes has been received at the library. It will be used for the shelf list and the old wooden boxes will be put to some other use. This precaution has been taken in order that the contents of each shelf in -the building may be known in case of fire. Prof. Hegner is Back From East. Prof. R. W. Hegner has just return- ed from Massachusetts where he was called to help originate some means of destroying the gypsy moth. The pest has spread/from Massachusetts to adjoining states and the govern- ment is now spending $300,000 annual- ly in an effort to discover a method of extermination. Comedy Club Holds First Meeting. Comedy club members met yester- day afternoon and in a general way planned their year'sbwork. Many of the old members are back and the pros- pects for the year are good. The an- nual play will bechosen in about two weeks and the try-outs will be held immediately afterward. A new policy will be inaugurated at the Majestic theater this week that is bound to be popular with a large ma- jority of the student body.
