LET
BIG INDUSTRY FOR ANN ARBOR.
The Star Motor Car Company to
push the manufacturing of a light
truck for the general merchant and
a Utility Car, a gentleman's car for
the farmer.
The Star Motor Car Company, a
company recently organized with
$500,000 capital stock paid up, has just
taken over the Huron River Manufac-
turing Company. Their plant will be
located at Ann Arbor. They will re-
model and enlarge the plant formerly
used by the Huron River Manufactur-
ing Company, the Huron River Manu-
facturing Company retiring from the
business with a clean slate, there be-
ing no obligations oustanding against
them. The new company paid the Hu-
ron River Manufacturing Company
for their plant and machinery, $68,-
970.
The outlook for the Star Motor Car
Company is unusually bright as there
is a big demand for the car they man-
ufacture. They will have an exhibit
at the auto show in Detroit in Janua-
ry, having secured 200 square feet of
space.'
They tell us that their truck has
many new and desirablefeatures
which will commend it to the general
public. The company will be under
the general supervision of W. J. Ready
who has resigned his position with the
Lozier Automobile Company to accept
the general management of the Star
Motor Car Co. Mr. Ready is thorough-
ly competent for this particular line of
work, having been in the automobile
work since its inception.
The officers of the new company are
Gottlieb Luick of Ann Arbor, presi-
dent; Dr. C. F. Underhill, of Grayling,
vice-president; F. . Butler, of Seattle,
treasurer; George W. Seybold, of Ann
Arbor, secretary, W. J. Ready, Detroit,
general manager.
On the Board of Directors will be
several capitalists and with that in
view, the company will increase the
Board to fifteen members, so that they
may be able at all times to be in close
touch with the company.
The matter of figuring with a con-
struction company for the purpose of
enlarging the plant, separating the
body and paint shops from the main
building, will be taken up at once.
The trucks that are to be manufac-
tured will weigh from one to three
tons and will cost from $1,050 to $1,850.
The Star Motor Car Co. has already
contracted with the Continental Mo-
tor Company of Detroit for them to
furnish their motors, this motor being
one of the best motors in the United
States.
The agency system is now being in-
augurated and salesmen will be lo-
cated in all parts of the United States.
At this time several orders are waiting
to be filled.
The Star Motor Car Company decid-
ed to locate in Ann Arbor for a num-
ber of reasons, one reason being the
nearness of Ann Arbor to Detroit,
which, as every one knows, is the au-
tomobile center. Street car service is
also easily accessible.
It is believed that the company will
be able to manufacture cars here more
cheaply than in Detroit, as there will
be no complicated labor conditions to

be met here and there are also other
advantages. Some very flattering of-'
fers were received to locate in other
places but it was decided to come to
Ann Arbor because the Huron Compa-
ny already had a factory building and
was turning out a car that gave satis-
faction. By taking advantage of this
fact, the company will be enabled to
begin six months earlier than if they
had gone elesewhere.
The plant will begin operations at
once and will start the output from
two to five cars a day which will make
employment for a good many people
and will be very beneficial to the city
of Ann Arbor and the company ear-
nestly desires the cooperation and as-
sistance of every resident in this city.1
The plant will be in operation the en-
tire year.
The Star Motor Truck will solve the
trucking problem so economically that
any one having-trucking to do cannot
afford to be without one.

If you have ideas-if you can THINK-we will show you the
secrets of this fascinating new profession. Positively no experience
or literary excellence necessary. No "flowery language" is wanted.
The demand for photoplays is practically unlimited. The big
film manufacturers are moving "heaven and earth" in their at-
tempts to get enough good plots to supply the ever increasing de-
mand. They are offering $ioo and more, for single scenarios, or
written ideas.
Nearly all the big film companies, the buyers of photoplays,
are located in or near NEW YORK CITY. Being right on the spot
and knowing at all times just what sort of plots are wanted by the
producers, our SALES DEPARTMENT has a tremendous advant-
age over agencies situated in distant cities,
We have received many letters from the big film manufactur-
ers, such as Vitagraph, Edison, Essanay, Lubin, Solax, Imp, Re-
liance. Champion, Comet, Melies, Etc., urging us to send photo-
plays to them. We want more writers and we'll gladly teach you
the secrets of success.
We are selling photoplays written by people
who 'never before wrote a line of publication,"
Perhaps we can do the same for you. If you can think of only
one good idea each week, and will write it out as directed by us,
and it sells for only $25, a low figure,
