Thomson, Michigan Majes tic Widespread interest is being dis- played all over the country in the matter of aiding women who are wil- ling to help themselves in obtaining a higher education. Scholarships and fellowships are appearing in increas- ing numbers, and each year the num- ber of women availing themselves of the opportunities, increases by at least 33 per cent. In Chicago, the re- ,ently formed association for the aid of needy college women has been or- ganized on a purely business and sys- tematic basis, and expects to aid at least 200 women within the next year. Not only is aid extended to under- graduate women. A new fellowship, called the "Sarah Belinger Research Fellowship," with an income of $1,000 a year, has been established. The pur- pose is to promote research in phys- ics, chemistry or biology-. PROFESSOR AWAITS HEARING FOLLOWING PERJURY CHARGE Interest in the football situation and the student rioters has taken a back seat at Champaign since Prof. L. D. Fall, of the University of Illinois, has been arrested on an indictment charg- ing perjury in connection with an hi- quiry into voting by students at the last election. Prof. Hall is accused of committing perjury in swearing false- ly to the eligibility of certain students to vote on the saloon question. Prof. Hall is not letting the indict- ment worry him in the least. "The 'wet' element of Champaign," said he, "is trying to deprive the students of their right to vote and everybody in Champaign and Urbana knows of the situation. I have not seen the true bill and don't know, except in a gener- al way, exactly of what I stand accus- ed." Complete line ofGym E. Ra. 302 S.
