Try-outs will be held this fall to get a line on the men so that a squad of seven can be picked early in the spring. Practice is being held every afernoon at Ferry field, and those who intend to try out should report at once. The summer school tournament which was held about the middle of August, was won by George Ehlers. INTERSCHOLASTIC MEET MAY COME BACK TO' MICHIGAN. Schoolmaster's club will be discontin- ued and that Michigan and M. A. C. will revive their meets. Following a misunderstanding as to eligibility rules last year, the meets of both schools were called off, and the meet in Detroit was the only one stag- ed. Manager Bartelme stated that although nothing authoritative had been brought to his attention, it seem- ed probable that the meet may be re- vived and that Michigan would wel- come the return of the high school athletes. I'S Pharmecy Evidently the Michigan Schoolmas- ter's Association has found that the staging of an interscholastic track meet is not the easiest thing in the world, and from advices received from Saginaw it seems probable they will return the privilege to Michigan.' Although the matter will not be de- cided until the October meeting, the opinion sems to be that the meet, which was staged last spring at De- troit under the management of the 703jPack ard RUBAI'YA7 ot Soccer a Try-out as an All Student Sport. If there are any devotees of soccer football in the University of Michigan they will have an opoprtunity to raise the sport of soccer to the standing of an inter-class sport. With the new system of supporting athletics calling for an opportunity for more students to participate in athletic activities, the management of the athletic association has, decided to give soccer a try-out as an all stu- dent sport. I is the present plan of the athletic authorities to issue a call to all men interested in the soccer. If enough respond to warrant making the form of football popular in California colleges an inter-class sport, teams will be organized in each class. If there are not enough men interested' to make this procedure expedient it is probable that the game will be given a try-out as an inter-department activity as was the case with the spot of hockey last winter. It has not been decided when the call for soccer players will be issued. INTERCLASS FOOTBALL TEAMS COMMENCE THEIR WORK SOON. Several interclass football teams will get into action this week. Though college work has hardly got under way, several of the class managers have issued calls for their candidates and expect to have them practicing before the week is over. A meeting of all class football man- agers has been issued for Friday ev- ening at 7:30 at the athletic office, when it is expected plans for the sea- son will be discussed.
