TO DISTRIBUTE CARDS TODAY. Based on information received from 25 large universities and colleges, an entire reorganization of the student advisory system has just been com- pleted by Professors C. 0O. Davis and M. P. Tilley who will have charge of the work this year. Several weeks ago, Pres. Hutchins sent letters to many of the faculty members asking them if they would be willing to serve as advisors during the coming year. Yesterday letters were mailed to 110 of those who were willing to act and the new system was explained at length. More than 700 freshmen are now en- rolled in the literary department, which means that each advisor will have about seven first year men to watch over. The system, however, is- not designed as a mere disciplinary agency, but when a student gets into any difficulty concerning either his university work or conduct he is ex- pected to get the proper advice from his member of the advisory board. Sophomores this year are expected to consult their advisors of last year. The advisor will keep in close touch with the work of each of his advisees and also help him to plan his course for the sophomore year so his elections will conform to the new requirements of the university. Cards will be distributed in all fresh- men rhetoric classes today. On these cards the new students may express any pr'eference they may have for cer- tain advisors, and they will also show what line of work they expect to follow after graduation. Mutual sympathies existing between advisers aad advisees will be taken into account so that ad- visors may handle students with whom they feel most closely acquainted. Book of Prof. Smalley's to be Edited. It is expected that the book on "Cor poration Problems" which the late Prof. H. S. Smalley wrote and edited as a mimeograph text for course 15 last year, will be reprinted and re- edited soon by the economics depart- ment as a special memorial to the pop- ular professor. NORTHWESTERN BARS CO-EDS FROM ITS ROOTING SECTION. "Too much fussing" is the reason ac- cepted by the authorities of North- western University why the rooting on the part of the students there has been on the wane. Peter Wilson, president of the student's association, in issuing a ukase that women students should not be allowed to mingle with the men at football games in the future, sup- ported the action by this statement: "The girls have disrupted our cheer- ing squad. At Bloomington recently, 200 rotters made more noise than do 500 in Evanston. Our men cannot be cheered to victory by girls eating choc- olates. Even the players themselves cannot keep their mind on the game when they take girls with them to watch the sport." Rent a folding kodak 10 cents. Lyn- don. e o d Open every evening until 10.
