M " Burchfield & Company 06 East Huron Street I unnecessary controversy? The game last week between two en- gineering classes was but an example of what may follow. Two teams fought for the department championship, and as night came on, the mob of onlook- ers encircled the players, disputed the rulings of the referee, hindered the progress of the game, and were direct- ly the cause of allowing a man to dodge among them for a touchdown. The points gained from this play were fortunately not a deciding issue. Not only were the actions of the spectators undesirable, but the, attitude of the players toward the officials was far from satisfactory. For the remaining games the ath- letic association could help matters at small expense, by stretching a wire around one of the Ferry field grid- irons. But the captains.ought to un- derstand that when they accept ofil- cials, they are to accept their decis- ions as final, and that second games will not be alloved on some mere tech- nicality. These rules or similar ones, with the cooperation of the men who are permitted to see the contests to support them, would enable the series, to be played off in a more satisfactory manner. A PLEA FOR THE YEAR-BOOK... Get your 'biled' shirt 'biled,' slap on your prettiest smile, and travel in the manner of the crow to the photogra- pher. That is-if you're a senior andE anxious to do your little share toward making the 1913 Michiganensian aj good book and an early book., Every year witnesses a mad rush, on the part of near-graduates near to the closing date for pictures. In con- sequence, a lot of trouble is caused for those who want sittings and a lot of bother created for the editors in their efforts to finish the work on time. For the small expenditure of two dollars, any senior may now have sit- tings, thus getting the year book re- quirements off his hands for good. Later in the year he can have his order of pictures filled to suit his conveni- ence and pocketbook, if there is any occasion why he should have to wait. There seems no reason why every sen-~ ior can't accommodate the editors of the ' Michiganensian-his Michiganen- sian--in a matter small to him possi- bly, but of significance to them. There chanced one day To be at play A naughty bug bacill-us; The hem he saw, Hooked in a claw, And straightaway got senill-us. First Mabel sneezed, And then she wheezed, And-then took to her bed; Oh dear, Oh dear, What have we here? Alas! She's tuber-cled. -R.D.H. The Cornell Widow speaks of its "Artistic Editor." Attention WATER NOW FREE FROM GERMS. 1)ean Vaughan Says Analysis is Made by Authorities Each Day. "Probably no other town of a simi- lar size enjoys greater protection, as far as precautionary measures against tubercular germs are concerned, than does Ann Arbor," said Dean V. C. Vaughan, of the medical department recently in commenting upon the in- vestigations and everwatchfulness of the authorities in trying to prevent the spread of the plague. "An analysis of the water is made every day in order to find the slightest indications of dis- ease. Since the last report issued the -first of last week, the water has shown no tendency toward unfitness for , drinking purposes.. No one need have iany fear about drinking all the water he cares to, as there are no immediate signs of danger. It would be advisa- ble, however, to watch the bulletins from time to- time if for no other rea- son than to play safe." 1EMBERSHIP OF HIOME GLEE CLUB CUT TO 28 SONGSTERS.
