-Miss Jane Pendell, superintendent of
nurses at the University hospital, has
been chosen corresponding secretary
of the State Nurses' Association.
-Bertrand Russell, lecturer and late
Fellow of Trinity College, Cambridge,
will give the second of a series of two
philosophical lectures in West Phys-
ics hall this afternoon at 4:15 o'clock.
--The Union dance comittee for Sat.
urday night is as follows: W. J. Good-

-A broken pipe on the gas testing de-
vice in the basement of West hall
threatened to destroy that building
Sunday night about 10:00 o'clock. As
it was, the smudge caused some ex-
citement, but the flames were soon
extinguished with chemicals. A gas
meter was ruined, and a box burned
but the building was not damaged.
-Members of the University House of
Representatives will leave Tessmer's
boat house at 6:00 o'clock tonight to
go up the river for their annual beef
roast. All members of the old Adel-
phi society are eligible for the trip.

nesday night assemblies through the
summer school, from 9-12, with Fisch-
