Fridays have been set aside as senior days by the various class cap and gown committees. The seniors are expected to appear in their academic robes at these times. The committees have shown excel- lent good judgment in setting uniform dates for the entire campus. Last Fri- day, the caps and gowns were notice- able by their absence. Can the senior who refuses to appear in his cap and gown complain against the freshman, who refuses to wear the freshman cap? MUST SOME ONE BE KILLED? Automobile and motor cycle speed- ink; has become a mania on the Ann Arbor streets. Must some one be kill- ed-to arouse public opinion to the dan- gers of such practices? The warning note was sounded Sat- urday afternoon, when several stu- dents narrowly escaped injury at the hands of a reckless driver on State street. It is surprising that autoine- bilists see no danger in rushing through the great crowds that fill State street after baseball games and track meets. It is also surprising that no check is placed on the speeding on the corner of State and North Univer- sity during the noon hour. Hundreds of students cross these corners every day. There is all the confusion of the big city corner, without the speed reg- ulations and traffic rules. As usual the .taxicab drivers are the most reck- less and irresponsible, but -even the auto owners themselves are filled with the American spirit of "hurry," and they choose the most crowded corner in the city to exercise their speed. Is it necessary that some one be killed before the automobilists will check their speed and the pedestrians will exercise more care? The nation wide "Safety First" campaign might well be applied to Ann Arbor's prob- lIes, U'NIVEtSITY NOTICES I Iberty and Main Streets convenient "place for banking.
