The first University of Michigan A?-i
Fresh baseball team will play its firet
game against an outside institution.
when it crosses bats with the Univer-
sity of Detroit in that city Saturday
afternoon.
The Detroit boys are reported to
have a fast aggregation this year, and
have been working hard all spring un-
der the tutorship of George Lawton,
ex-Michigan football men. Norman T.,
Hill, a former Michigan baseball cap-
tain will umpire the game.
The trip will be taken by 14 men,
the final cut coming at next Friday's
practice, and at that time the official
distribution of the new freshman suits
will be made. The squad at present
consists of the following men: pitch-
crs-Payette, McNamara, Waldo, Lee(.
and Flynn; catchers-Krause, Arenz
and McCall:;Infielders-Matby, Brown-
eli, Barterlo, McGraw, Grey, Thomas,
Smidt, Rowan, Codd, Harrington, Mc-
Isaac and Barnard; outfielders-Mac-
Conahy, Nieman, Patterson, Brandell
and Taylor.

The Commerce club will journey to
Detroit tomorrow, as guests of the De-
troit board of commerce,.and will be
shown through different industrial
plants of the city, tomorrow and Fri-
day. A special car will leave the D. U.
R. waiting room in Ann Arbor, at 7:10,
o'clock Thursday morning. All who in-
tend to go and have not yet signified
thei rintention must notify Julius Wer-
nicke, '14, at once.
DELINQUENT ENGINEERS GET
OPPORTUNITY TO SETTLE UP
Senior engineers will be given their
last opportunity to pay the senior as-
sessment and all back dues Thursday

-The class in oral interpretation of
poetry will give Count Guido's Defense
from Browning's "Ring and the Book,"
at 8:00 o'clock tonight in room 302 U.

recital, which will be free.
-The continittee for the weekly Sat-
urday night dance at the Union will
consist of Walter Emmons, '14E, chair-
man, W. E. Nye, '16, T. S. Barnett, '16,
and F. L. Nesbit, '17.
--Members of the Canadian club will
hold a smoker at 7:15 o'clock tomor-
row night, in the Barrister's. rooms,
above Wagner & Co's store. Officers
for next year will be elected.
-Professor John R. Allen, of tile me-
chanical engineering department, will
be the principal speaker at the annual
banquet of the Graduate club to be
held at the Unon, at 6:15 o'clock to-
morrow night.
-Prof. W. W. Florer will address the
lower women's section of the Deutsch-
er Verein at its meeting in the Verein
room at 7:30 o'clock tonight.
--Prof. Campbell Bonner, of the Greek
department, left last night for New
York City, where he will attend a
meeting of the managing committee of
the American School of Classical Stud-
ies at Athens. He will return the lat-
ter part of the week.
-Dr. W. B. Pillsbury, of the psycholo-
gy department, who is confined to his
home with a serious attack of pneumo-
nia, was improved yesterday. His
classes are being conducted by Mr. IH.
F. Adams and Prof. J. S. Shepard.
