The board of directors is not likely to elect to the board in control next week, as was announced 'yesterday morning by Mr. Crowe, because the -men favoring the direct election scheme are in power, and have pledged themselves to forward the direct elec- tion plan. The campus needs nothing more than promises from these men. The board of directors can hold a direct election, with the help of a nom- inating committee, and ratify the re- sut.The spirit of the regents' rule, at least, would be lived- up to. Or a pe- tition can be presented to the board of regents, which will meet on May 22. WHY DIRECT ELECTIONS?
