RECORD ATTENDANCE MAKES
SOPH PROM GREAT SUCCESS
Special Song and Stunts by McMahon
and Fellows Add to General
Festivities
Amidst a maze of checkered yellow
and blue decorations, hanging ferns
and colored lights, the third annual
soph prom was run off successfully
last night at the armory. For the first
time in the history of the prom, all
the tickets were sold out, there being
175 couples present.
"The Season of Love," a song writ-
ten specially for the dance by Row-
land W. Fixel, .14L, and Roger Sylves-
ter, '17, and introduced by George Mc-
Mahon, '16, in a vocal solo, was a pro-
nounced success. Waldo E. Fellows,
'14, delighted the audience with sever-
al of the latest song hits which attain-
ed popularity on the recent trip of the
musical clubs. One of the features
was a "riotous" number in which
noise-making toys of all sorts were the
favors.
The chaperones were Prof. Bird and
Mrs. Bird, Prof. R. H. Curtiss and Mrs.
Curtiss, Prof. S. L. Bigelow and Mrs.
Bigelow, and Dr. H. I. Lillie, and Mrs.
Lillie.
LITS VOTE DOWN ALL-FRESH
DANCE FOR LACK OF TIME
The "All-Fresh" dance, proposed by
fresh lits and approved by fresh engi-
neers, received its death warrant
Thursday when the fresh lit social
committee voted against it. Although
in favor of such an institution, they
declared that it is now too late in the
year to push it through, and that such
an affair would not receive general
support at this late hour.
In place of the dance, a freshman
"Last Night" smoker, to be staged up
the river the night before cap night,
Was instigated. Freshman engineers
will be approached upon the subject at
their assembly next Wednesday morn-
ing. With their consent, and no inter-
venton on the part of the faculty, this
innovation is a certainty.
Committee Makes Eight Appointments
The appointment committee an-
nounces the following appointments
made during the last week: Nellie At-
wood, Decorah, Ia., Mathematics; E. A.
Gallup, Monroe, Superintendent; Net-
tie Tennant, Det.; Charles S. White,
Allegan, Athletic coach; Alice Corn-
well, Sault Ste. Marie, French and His-
tory; Alice Burridge, Grand Rapids;
Leona Heine, Pigeon, English History,
and Minnie Muvany, Sault Ste. Marie,
English.
