The Eastern Michigan Edison Com- pany is a corporation with a con- science -and a public spirit. It is this company that has offered the Michigan Union .$1,000.00 toward a boat house and now it comes along with a. proposi- tion to lead the movement to further protection for canoeists and for the beautification of the grounds about its premises near the Barton pond. Unthinking persons have shown scant appreciation. It was only last Sunday that the crowds did considera- ble damage to the beautification plans as well as to the building itself, by a careless disregard of regulations. The surrounding ground is to be re-seeded with grass and a large amount of Mon- ey will be spent on shrubbery. Surely we should appreciate the spir- it of such movements and show our thanks by our treatment of the donor's property. MICHIGAN IN ARABIA. The great Michigan hospital at Bus- rah, Arabia, which is being largely supported by the University Y. M. C. A. has been advertised upon the campus in a most effective manner. It is the only hospital in Arabia within an aver- age radius of one thousand miles from Busrahi, and is supplying an enormous need. Men who are prejudiced against religious missions may support the Busrah project, which is a non-secta- rian, medical enterprise. Tile project deserves..at least the attention of every Michigan man.
