Michigan's relay candidates have been working out all during the spring vacation on the Ferry field speedways, and have already become acclimated to the open-air track. Training table for these men, together with the trio of sprint men, Smith, Bond and Seward, who will be entered in the special events at Philadelphia on the 25th, was established at the Union, during the holidays. Besides the dash men,, those on the trainingstable have been Haff, Jansen, Murphy, Griest, Ufer, Fox and Lamey. Yesterday saw a large squad of men4 on the track and field, working out un-i der Trainer Farrell. Soth- ern, introduces "Charlemagne," an his- torical drama, to Detroit theatergoers this week, when he appears in a rep- ertoire at the Garrick theater includ- ing, "If I Were King," on Monday and Tuesday nights; "Lord Dundreary," at Wednesday matinee; "Hamlet," Wed- nesday night and "Charlemagne," on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights and Saturday matinee. "Charlemagne" was introduced for the first time in Chicago last week, scoring an instant success. Justin Hubtley McCarthy, the author, has written the play especially for Soth- ern, who impersonates Charles as the dashing young king of the Franks, and his struggle for the possession of the throne.
