Several of the advanced students of the piano, vocal, and violin depart- ments of the school of music will give a public recital at 4:15 o'clock this afternoon in Frieze Memorial hall. Mr. John Meidruin, the talented blind pian- ist who is to graduate under Mr. Lock- wood and who has been heard so fav- orably in the past, will take part at this time. Small Attendance at Renwick Recital As a reaction to the Paderewski con- cert, there was a marked decrease in the attendance at the organ recital giv- en yesterday afternoon by Mr. Llewel- lyn L, Renwick of Detroit. Despite the fact that Mr. Renwick's program consisted of rather unpreten- tious compositions-the smaller works of modern living composers for the most part-they were interpreted with remarkable taste, and executed with delicacy and artistic finish. His pro- gram was unfortunately lacking in larger forms, and consequently no chance was afforded for the exhibi- tion of virtuosoship Handel's "Largo" was played with the simple grandeur that belongs to it, with all artificial at- tempts of adornment appropriately omitted. The Faulkes "Barcarolle" was skillfully registered, displaying to ad- vantage the softer, contrasting tone- colors of the organ. The "Carillon-Al- legretto" by Ryder failed in its effect because the chimes were unfortunately out of tune. We should like to have heard Mr. Renwick in some larger and more profound works. DR.
