The man who has his ear close to the ground will heed the impulse to promise a Union life membership. And why not? Many others are doing it and it will be a custom hereafter. We are inclined to judge a man's loyalty to Michigan by his attitude to- ward a life membership. In some cases it will be a real sacrifice. So much the better. That's loyalty! Heed the impulse! Identify yourself with Michigan for life. 2 for 25 cents , TROVIS BEST PRODVCT **** * * * * * * * * OF INTEREST TO WOMEN. * S* * * * s . *s In order to increase the teaching force in Barbour gymnasium during the absence of Miss Sawtelle, a few upper class women, who are advanced in gymnastic work, have been put in charge of a number of classes. If the experiment proves successful it will probably be continued throughout the year, and may at some future time be made the basis of a normal training course in gymnastics. "A Scene in China," enacted by members of "The Masques," will be presented at 4:30 o'clock tomorrow afternoon in Newberry hall. The tab- leau, which has a religious signifi- cance, has been arranged by the mis- sionary committee of the Y. W. C. A. Junior women will be entertained by the freshmen at a "tango-tea" in Bar- bour gymnasium this afternoon. Mem- bers of the junior social committee will take this opportunity to place on sale tickets for the second class lunch- eon to be given Saturday, February 21, at the Union. A little modesty and good common sense are as good criterions in sched- uling honors in the Michiganensian as in any. other problem. The man or woman who has labored consistently in student activities and received recog- nition, has the right to identify them- selves with these activities in the year book. This is playing on vanity to be sure, but human vanity must be reck- oned with, and unless absurdly over- done, it is pardonable. Schedule the honors that are worth while. Schedule the honors that you have just cause to feel proud of. Just a little judgment and modesty, that's 1I!I THE BAND DANCE. Forty members of the university band have been practicing twice a week for five months in preparation for the dance that will be given next Thursday night. The music will be, good. The band is getting ready for the spring twilight concerts and the base- ball games, and the football contests next fall. We like the way the new management is taking hold. Michigan is beginning to have a smug feeling about this band. Any of your clothes need repairing or altering? That's our specialty. C. I. Kidd, 1112 S. University, 1530-J. tf MUSIC AND DRAMA "Romance." Edward Sheldon's "Romance," which will be presented at the Whit- ney theater Friday, February 20, is one of the most widely discussed plays in recent years. Critics are agreed that it surpasses any previouseffort of the author, who, by the way, is responsible for "The Easiest Way," "The Wolf," and "Fine Feathers." A play as difficult to interpret as "Ro- mance," requires an unusual cast. The company that will appear at the Wft ney contains many talented players', among whom Gertrude Morrissini and Edgar Kent are the best known.
